Beta Test Guidelines

Last Updated: November 12, 2025

Welcome to the BudgetBadger beta test! These guidelines explain how you can use the app and what to expect during testing.

Beta Test Nature

This is a beta test version of BudgetBadger, which means the app is still in development and may have bugs or errors. Features may change or be removed without notice, and the app may be unavailable at times for maintenance. Some features may not work exactly as expected, but that's what we're testing!

By using this beta version, you acknowledge that you are testing an early version of the app and helping us improve it.

Account Creation

To participate in the beta test, you need to be at least 18 years old, provide a valid email address, and create a secure password. By creating an account, you agree to these beta test guidelines.

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. Please don't share your account with others.

What You Can Do

During the beta test, you can create an account and explore the app, test features with synthetic/pre-seeded transaction data, and manually add categories and transactions for testing. We encourage you to provide feedback to help us improve the app as you use it.

What We Don't Collect (Yet)

During this beta test, we do NOT connect to your real financial accounts, collect real financial transaction data, or use Plaid or any financial account aggregation services. All transaction data you see is synthetic/test data for demonstration purposes only.

In future beta tests, we plan to enable Plaid integration so you can connect your real financial accounts. We will notify you and update these guidelines before that happens.

User-Generated Content

Any categories or transactions you manually add are considered "user-generated content." By adding content, you grant us permission to store this data for your account. Please understand this is test data, not real financial information. You can stop using the app at any time if you wish.

Beta Test Expectations

Please understand that the app is provided "as-is" without warranties, and we don't guarantee that everything will work perfectly. Data may be lost due to bugs or issues, the app may be unavailable without notice, and we may reset or clear test data during the beta. We appreciate your patience as we work through these early stages!

Feedback and Reporting Issues

We welcome your feedback! Please share any bugs or issues you encounter, your thoughts on features and improvements, and let us know what's working well and what needs improvement. You can reach us through our contact page.

Termination

You can stop using the beta test at any time by simply not using the app. There's no obligation to continue, and we appreciate any feedback you provide while testing.

Intellectual Property

BudgetBadger and its features are owned by us. You may use the app for testing purposes only.

Limitation of Liability

Since this is a beta test, we limit our liability. We are not responsible for any damages, lost data, or issues that may arise from using the beta app. This app is provided for testing purposes only.

Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these beta test guidelines as the app evolves. We'll notify you of significant changes.
