Up to Five Team Members, No Password Sharing
In Etsy's September 2026 Newly Crafted update, shop owners can invite up to five helpers with their own Etsy logins. Helpers can manage orders, shipping labels, listings, and messages, but not finances, marketing, Shop Stats, settings, refunds, or listing deletion. Sellers get an activity log for team changes. Each Etsy account can access only one shop (including drafts), so multi-shop helpers need separate logins.

Listing Tools Get a Significant Upgrade
Etsy is testing a new Quick List form with a limited group of sellers. The tool reads listing photos and descriptions to suggest titles, tags, and attributes for seller review, with access expected to expand gradually. Meanwhile, Custom options, which began rolling out earlier in 2026, now support up to five fields for text, predefined choices, or file uploads. Sellers can reuse Custom options across listings, make bulk changes, and charge extra for personalization services like engraving, embroidery, or custom messages through optional text fields.
In a related move, Etsy now allows sellers to add a third variation, meaning size, color, and style can each occupy their own dropdown instead of being collapsed into a combined field. Etsy is recommending that sellers currently using variations to capture personalization charges migrate those to Custom options instead.
Payment Account Redesign Clarifies Cash Flow
Seller Payment accounts are receiving a redesign first flagged earlier in September 2026. Balances are now split into three categories: Current, Pending, and Total, plus a new "Ready for Deposit" section showing payout timing and any holds blocking a deposit. Reserved funds, historically a major source of seller confusion, are being folded into the Pending balance and the separate reserve module is being removed.
A key operational change: transaction and payment processing fees tied to an order will stay in a pending state until the corresponding earnings become available, rather than being deducted immediately. Etsy Ads charges, shipping label costs, listing fees, and subscription fees will still be deducted in real time. Additional account changes are coming over the next few months, including Current, Pending, and Total tabs within transaction history and expandable sales views that group order earnings with related fees.
Expanded Appeals and Smarter Shop Stats
Etsy is broadening the listing appeal process it began piloting ahead of the 2025 holiday season. At launch, the pilot was limited to some sellers and covered only listings removed for Creativity Standards violations after July 15, 2025. The expanded version opens appeals to more policy areas and more sellers, with Etsy promising full access across most policy areas for all sellers by the end of 2026. Handmade sellers have long complained about legitimate listings being removed with no recourse, making this expansion a meaningful policy shift.
Shop Stats is gaining side-by-side graphs for visits, orders, conversion rate, and revenue, along with backend performance improvements intended to make historical data load faster. Etsy is also expanding the beta of its AI-powered Stats assistant and testing personalized Marketplace Insights recommendations built around search terms relevant to individual shops.
Final Thought: Etsy's September 2026 rollout moves several long-requested seller tools from workaround territory into native features, but shop owners should note that shared access carries no granular permission controls, meaning every invited team member gets the same level of access and the shop owner remains fully responsible for their actions.
